Ugly Bridesmaid Dress Pub Crawl

Ok... soooo. Not technically a wedding event. But a great place to check out all the dresses that you're NOT making your ladies in waiting wear, right??

The Deets:

Pull out that ugly bridesmaid dress from the back of your closet and get ready for a good time! Deadwood Saloon and Maid of (Dis)Honor Blane Bachelor, Atlanta author and syndicated advice columnist, are hosting the First Annual Ugly Bridesmaid Dress Bar Crawl on Saturday, September 25.

It's time to show off their ugliest bridesmaid dress and party with your girlfriends in honor of National Singles Week (week of September 20). ...

The evening begins at 7 p.m. at Deadwood Saloon where guests can register for the bar crawl and great prizes. At this time, bar crawlers can also meet Blane Bachelor and get a copy of her new book, On Being a Bachelor: Thoughts on Dating, Mating and Relating (purchase an advance copy at www.askabachelor.com).

We'll have food and drink specials throughout the night to anyone wearing a bridesmaid dress. The bar crawl continues to the following Midtown locations, all of which will offer drink specials throughout the evening to those dressed in bridesmaid attire:

• RA Sushi
• Rí Ra Irish Pub and Restaurant
• Vickery’s
• Front Page News

Those participating in the bar crawl will want to head back to Deadwood by 10 p.m. for prize drawings that include a signed copy of Blane’s book, Deadwood gift certificates and more. From 10 p.m. on, Deadwood will have karaoke and a DJ spinning 80s tunes all night long. The kitchen at Deadwood will also be open late.

Awesome brides... and grooms!

We had so much fun at the PWG show yesterday at 200 Peachtree. It was great to meet so many brides, and grooms too! High fives to all ya'll that scored your wedding dress at the show... your fast decision making leaves us in awe. :) Congrats to ya'll and thanks so much for connecting with us. The lucky grand prize winner will be contacted this week!

It was also a fun time to visit with other local folks like Bill from WOW Photobooth and Angela from Angela Wilson Photography, and meet many new faces.

Here's a photo of the atrium of 200 Peachtree, where the show was held!

Filene's Basement Running of the Brides in Atlanta

Were you at Filene's Basement's Running of the Brides last week in Atlanta? We were! And... we can now say that... YES. Everything you've heard is very, very true.

This was our first time, and as the bride we were shopping with can attest, please arrive with:

1. lots of guts
2. underwear ready for trying on a wedding dress, including strapless bra
3. cell phones or some sort of communication so you can talk to and find your 'dress team'
4. a granola bar or two to keep up your energy
5. the right set of expectations for what works for you

Remember that just like any shopping experience, to, as they say, Keep Calm and Carry On. It's easy to get caught up in the frenzy of shoppers and end up walking out with a dress that might end up in regret... so we advise going in after trying on some styles so you know at least the silhouette that you're after.

The dresses range in price for $249 - $699, so if you're on a budget, think it's silly to spend thousands on a dress or simply would rather allocate that to another area of the big day, it can be a bargain.

Have you been to the Running of the Brides at Filiene's as a bride to be or as a helper? What did you think?
