Wedding Venue Review: The Ravinia Club

The Perimeter area has grown so much in the past few years, but a lot of people still don't know about the tucked away venue called the Ravinia Club. It's hidden away in the skyscraper-esque complex.. and once you're inside of it, you'd never know that there's a mall across the street!

I've been to a couple events here, and I was just at the Ravinia Club this past week. Though they also have a main dining room for receptions, what I love about the club is the gardens for a ceremony... check out the beautiful picture above from their site. There's also the Crowne Plaza in the same complex, too, which makes it easy for guests!

Atlanta Wedding Venue Review: The Contemporary

photo: courtesy of the contemporary

Ladies and gents, I've found it. The 'dark horse' of wedding and event venues, I can't stop obsessing over the modern lines, laid back staff and lovely pricing to boot of The Contemporary.

It's definitely for the couple that loves a modern, city feel and is looking for something different. The Contemporary is one unique Atlanta wedding venue! If you're looking for plush chairs, mahogany wood anything or a swank atmosphere, skip this. But for a couple that is drawn to an artistic vibe and want to surprise guests with a cool location, keep readin,' my lovely bride and grooms to be.

Be forewarned, this is indeed a modern art center, and it's the luck of the draw if the current exhibit may or may not have a little bit of racy-ness to it that may make your Great Aunt Edna blush, but it's all part of the fun! Depending on when you book and how far out they are on their schedule, you may know this in advance.

The space has an outdoor area, the front entryway area, the interior and the back courtyard. Many ceremonies are held under the iron structure which looks divine with strings of lights, swathed in cloth, or bare for the minimalist couple. And the back courtyard feels like your own private oasis.

Couple all of that loveliness with a laid-back, friendly staff, free parking and an easy to get to intown location, and there you go.

Contact them at 404.688.1970 and speak with Alana. And heck, even if you're not getting hitched, check out their cool exhibits and events!

Get Your Roll On: A Fun Atlanta wedding, reception or party spot!

photo: flickr.com

This one of my favorite venues in Atlanta for events! Guess where it is? You'd never guess that it's tucked away on Emory's campus, right?! It's called Wisteria Lanes at the Emory Conference Center Hotel. This fun spot is fabulous for a birthday party, bar/bat mitzvah, bachelor/bachelorette party, a unique rehearsal dinner spot or even a kitch-y wedding venue for a reception for the daring, fun loving couple. There are six bowling lanes and the adorable lounge area, as well as pool tables and other activities. Soo cute!

Hmm… I'm definitely having visions of vintage bowling shoes and a fun and flirty tea length wedding gown!

Venue Review: Atlanta's Artmore Hotel

the entrance

the courtyard area

Kudos to Tiffany at The Artmore Hotel for putting together a beautiful tour of their facility! It was my first time to visit this Atlanta wedding venue and was well worth the trip! It's both the old and new kid on the block, since its a building from the 1920s ('26 to be exact) but just was recently renovated as the Artmore last year.

You can especially see this in the courtyard - a beautiful fountain surrounded by the walls of the Spanish Mediterranean influenced architecture... juxtaposed by the uber-modern touches in the Studio Bar & Lounge.

Standouts from the Artmore Hotel include:

  • aforementioned courtyard... the space is stunning and a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city
  • location - nestled in Midtown Atlanta off of West Peachtree, it's a convenient location as long as guests are on the lookout for it down the one way W. Peachtree
  • sleek architecture packaged inside the bar area
There's also a downstairs space - decidedly less glam and more functional, but it's a smart blank canvas for designing an event. The hotel also attracts art-y heads to rest on its pillows like Diane Birch, Lifehouse and the Swell Season and is making great strides in the Atlanta art community!
