What Comes After the Cupcakes?
Bonjour, my dears! After having a fairly in depth conversation about macarons (the adorable French version, not the unwieldy American coconut macaroon), I've got Francais on the brain. While I love the personality and fun that cupcakes bring, what if you're looking for something different? How about a croquembouche, might I ask? A croque-whaaaat? The croquembouche is a traditional French style towering wedding cake which is basically a tower of profiteroles, or cream puff-like goodies, decked out in caramel, sugared almonds, chocolate... sounds divine, yes?
They can also be made with macarons (cupcakes next biggest competition, if you ask me!) for a beautifully sleek look. I love this traditional wedding cake alternative!
And where, mon amour, do you find these delightfully whimsical treats in Atlanta? Marietta's Douceur De France specializes in the traditinoal French wedding cake, as well as having the ability to whip up the classic American variety too.
... and if you're truly brave, be inspired by pastry chef Valentyn Shtefano who croquembouched his bride to be!
