A Royal Affair, American Style!

photo via TPI News
I mean... the biggest news to hit the wedding world this week? Definitely Chelsea's DRESS! Married yesterday on August 1st to Marc Mezvinsky in an interfaith ceremony, she looked amazing in her Vera Wang (who was a wedding guest!) gown. I am so anxious to see how the Vera Wang Collection (Wang for David's Bridal) will look when it comes out and if it will resemble at all her main line of dresses. Dresses promise to be between $600 and $1500 and will eventually include bridesmaids and accessories if the $10K for a Vera dress would seriously cut into your guest count budget.
Local Resources:
Vera Wang. You'll have to visit NYC or LA for flagships, but find Vera Wang in Atlanta at Impressions Bridal Salon. Vera Wang Trunk Show on August 19-21, 2010.
David's Bridal (Wang for David's Bridal debuts Spring 2011). David's Bridal, 3503 Gwinnett Place Dr., Duluth, GA, 30096.
Preowned Vera. At 30 - 50% off retail at this consignment shop in Buckhead. Le Dress Boutique.

InStyle: Best Dressed Celeb Brides

(photo: InStyle.com)
Couldn't help but stop what I was intending to do and read the The Best Dressed Celebrity Brides of All Time on InStyle. My two faves are posted above! Joy Bryant's dress is by her friend Angela Missoni and Audrey is lovely in a tea-length, chiffon-sleeved Balmain.
Which is your favorite from the 21 on the list?

Filene's Basement Running of the Brides in Atlanta
Were you at Filene's Basement's Running of the Brides last week in Atlanta? We were! And... we can now say that... YES. Everything you've heard is very, very true.
This was our first time, and as the bride we were shopping with can attest, please arrive with:
1. lots of guts
2. underwear ready for trying on a wedding dress, including strapless bra
3. cell phones or some sort of communication so you can talk to and find your 'dress team'
4. a granola bar or two to keep up your energy
5. the right set of expectations for what works for you
Remember that just like any shopping experience, to, as they say, Keep Calm and Carry On. It's easy to get caught up in the frenzy of shoppers and end up walking out with a dress that might end up in regret... so we advise going in after trying on some styles so you know at least the silhouette that you're after.
The dresses range in price for $249 - $699, so if you're on a budget, think it's silly to spend thousands on a dress or simply would rather allocate that to another area of the big day, it can be a bargain.
Have you been to the Running of the Brides at Filiene's as a bride to be or as a helper? What did you think?
